Salalah – A national campaign promoting organ donation and surgical health will begin in Dhofar on Thursday, aiming to raise awareness among thousands of visitors attending the khareef season.

The ‘Life After Life’ campaign will run from August 6 to 10 at the Attin Plain waterfront in Salalah, welcoming visitors daily from 4pm to 10pm with interactive health awareness activities focused on organ donation, disease prevention and early detection.

The campaign will be launched under the patronage of H H Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar, in the presence of officials and representatives from the health and academic sectors.

Organised by medical students from Sultan Qaboos University, the National University of Science and Technology and Dhofar University, the initiative is being held in partnership with the Ministry of Health, Royal Oman Police, Military and Security Medical City Hospital, University Medical City, Dhofar Municipality and the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs.

The organisers said the campaign aims to foster a stronger culture of organ donation while improving public understanding of surgical health through accessible and community-based activities.

Visitors will be able to explore dedicated sections on organ donation, specialised surgery, road safety and the Islamic perspective on organ donation. A children’s zone will also offer health education through interactive and family-friendly activities.

By holding the campaign during the peak Khareef tourism season, organisers hope to reach a wider audience and encourage informed discussions about organ donation, helping address misconceptions while highlighting its life-saving potential.

The initiative reflects growing collaboration between educational institutions and healthcare organisations to strengthen public health awareness and encourage greater community participation in organ donation and preventive healthcare.
