Muscat – Agriculture Development Oman (ADO) and the Development Bank on Sunday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the Farmers’ Funding Programme, a new initiative aimed at providing flexible financing solutions tailored to the needs of farmers and the realities of agricultural production cycles.

The programme is designed to improve farmers’ access to working capital at critical stages of the production process, enabling them to finance seasonal operations, maintain productivity and support the long-term growth of their businesses.

Under the partnership, farmers will benefit from an integrated support system that combines customised financing with technical guidance and improved access to market channels. The initiative seeks to address financial challenges faced by agricultural producers while enhancing efficiency across the sector.

By linking finance, technical expertise and market opportunities, the programme aims to strengthen agricultural value chains, increase local production and improve the competitiveness of Oman’s farming sector. The integrated approach is expected to help farmers expand production, adopt better agricultural practices and improve the sustainability of their operations.

The MoU reflects the shared commitment of Agriculture Development Oman and the Development Bank to supporting the country’s agricultural sector through practical financing solutions that respond to farmers’ needs.

Officials said the partnership forms part of broader efforts to build a more sustainable and resilient agricultural ecosystem in Oman. The initiative is expected to contribute to strengthening food security by supporting domestic agricultural production and encouraging investment in the sector, they said.

The Farmers’ Funding Programme also aligns with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which places emphasis on economic diversification, sustainable development and enhancing the contribution of agriculture to the national economy.
