Muscat- Oman stepped up diplomatic engagement on Sunday as Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi held separate telephone conversations with his Jordanian and Qatari counterparts to discuss regional developments and efforts to preserve security and stability.

In a call with Ayman Safadi, Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, the ministers reviewed the latest regional developments and their implications for regional security and stability.

They stressed the need to intensify political and diplomatic efforts to prevent further escalation, prioritise dialogue and peaceful solutions, and avert a wider regional confrontation. They also underscored the importance of upholding international law, safeguarding freedom of navigation, protecting the interests of all peoples, and preserving the sovereignty and stability of states.

In a separate telephone conversation, Sayyid Badr spoke with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar.

The two ministers discussed ongoing regional developments, mediation efforts and diplomatic contacts aimed at preventing escalation and creating conditions for a sustainable political understanding. Particular attention was given to ensuring the freedom and safety of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz and restoring the smooth flow of global supply chains.

Both sides reaffirmed the importance of continued consultation and coordination in addressing current developments and highlighted the need for concerted regional and international efforts to tackle the root causes of tensions and reinforce security and stability across the region.
