Yanqul – The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP) has launched two new agricultural investment opportunities in Dhahirah governorate through its Tatweer platform, offering land under the usufruct system for vegetable production projects as part of efforts to strengthen food security and attract private sector investment.

The opportunities, announced on Wednesday, cover a total area of 58 acres and include a 50 acre smart farming project in the wilayat of Dhank and an eight-acre greenhouse project for seasonal vegetable production in Al Buwairidah, wilayat of Yanqul.

The Dhank project is designed to introduce smart agriculture technologies to boost vegetable production through modern irrigation systems, precision farming and efficient resource management. The Yanqul project will focus on cultivating seasonal vegetables in protected greenhouse environments, enabling year-round production and improved crop quality.

According to the ministry, the projects aim to encourage investment in agriculture by providing commercially viable opportunities that support the growth of the sector while promoting innovation and sustainable farming practices.

The initiative aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040, which identifies agriculture as one of the sectors with strong potential to contribute to economic diversification, food security and sustainable development. Increasing domestic agricultural production has become a national priority as the sultanate seeks to enhance self-sufficiency and build a more resilient food supply chain.

Interested investors can submit applications through the Tatweer platform, where complete details of the projects, usufruct conditions and application procedures are available.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources is responsible for identifying agricultural investment projects and allocating land under the usufruct system in coordination with MHUP and the private sector.

The two ministries continue to work together to create investment-ready agricultural projects that encourage the adoption of advanced technologies, improve productivity and attract local and foreign investment.

The latest opportunities are expected to expand vegetable production capacity in Dhahirah, generate new business opportunities for investors and contribute to the sultanate’s long-term food security goals while supporting sustainable agricultural development.
