Muscat – Omani siblings Abdullah and Mohammed Al Farsi have won two gold medals at the eighth and final round of the Khalid bin Mohammed bin Zayed (KBMZ) Jiu-Jitsu Championship 2026 in Abu Dhabi, adding to their international achievements and bringing further recognition to Oman.

Speaking to Muscat Daily, Abdullah said he and his brother Mohammed secured first place in their respective categories at the championship, held from October 16 to 18, which attracted more than 3,000 athletes.

Abdullah won gold in the black belt category under 62kg, while Mohammed claimed gold in the purple belt category under 69kg.

“Alhamdulillah, my brother Mohammed Al Farsi and I have continued our international success,” Abdullah said.

The latest achievement adds to Abdullah’s international record, which includes two world championship titles in 2021 and 2022 and a bronze medal at the Asian Continental Championship in September 2026.

For the siblings, however, success extends beyond medals. They are determined to represent Oman on the international stage while helping develop jiu-jitsu at home and encouraging more young Omanis to take up the sport.

“We are proud Omani professional athletes representing our country internationally and competing for overseas clubs, with opportunities earned through our achievements and international rankings,” Abdullah said.

He noted that much of their progress had been achieved through personal effort and financial resources, alongside professional opportunities secured abroad.

Despite their international commitments, the siblings remain closely connected to their hometown of Sur, where they are helping promote jiu-jitsu by attracting international athletes and organising training camps.

These initiatives give local athletes opportunities to learn from international competitors, develop their skills and gain greater exposure to the sport. They also support efforts to promote sports tourism and expand sporting opportunities in the governorate.

Abdullah said greater recognition, support and partnerships with Omani businesses, local organisations and the wider community would help sustain their achievements and strengthen their contribution to the development of jiu-jitsu in Oman.

Such backing, he added, could help create clearer pathways for aspiring athletes to develop their abilities and compete internationally.

Abdullah said he and his brother hoped to contribute to the development of an official Omani national jiu-jitsu team, opening up further opportunities for the country to compete in international events.
