DakhliyahVisitors to Jabal Akhdar rose 13.2% to over 101,000 in the first half of 2026, making it one of the most visited mountain destination in the sultanate, according to the latest figures from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
The NCSI said 101,608 visitors travelled to Jabal Akhdar between January and the end of June, compared with 89,780 during the same period in 2025.
Omani nationals accounted for 40,082 visitors during the six-month period. Among GCC nationals, Saudi Arabia contributed the largest number with 13,272 visitors, followed by 395 visitors from the UAE, 332 from Kuwait, 285 from Bahrain, and 149 from Qatar.
The statistics also showed that 4,863 visitors came from other Arab countries, while foreign visitors formed the largest overall group, reaching 52,230.
Tourism officials attribute part of the increase to the annual Jabal Akhdar Rose Spring Festival, held from late March to mid-April. The event attracts thousands of visitors each year to experience the blooming of the region’s famed Damask roses and learn about the traditional process of rose water distillation.
Rose water produced in Jabal Akhdar is used in perfumes, cosmetics, traditional sweets and Omani coffee, making the rose season an important cultural and economic event for local communities.
Located in Dakhliyah, Jabal Akhdar is one of Oman’s most popular tourism destinations, offering cool summer temperatures, spectacular mountain scenery and a wide range of accommodation, including hotels, resorts and guesthouses.
The area has also established itself as a leading destination for ecotourism and adventure tourism, with activities including hiking through terraced villages and wadis, mountain climbing, cave exploration and nature trails.
