CPA temporarily closes furniture establishment following consumer complaints

23 Jun 2026 CPA temporarily closes furniture establishment By OUR CORRESPONDENT

North Batinah – Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has temporarily closed a local furniture and curtain sales establishment following a judicial order. This action was taken due to persistent complaints regarding the business’s failure to honour service agreements and maintain transparency with its customers. Affected consumers reported significant delays in furniture tailoring, poor workmanship, and a failure to provide the required service warranties as stipulated in their original contracts.

The establishment was found to be in violation of the Consumer Protection Law, specifically regarding the obligation to provide services in a proper manner. Despite the Directorate’s attempts to resolve the issues, the supplier failed to respond to ongoing concerns. Consequently, the Directorate approached the Public Prosecution to request a formal closure. The establishment will remain closed and its business activities suspended until the ongoing legal proceedings are concluded.
