Muscat- HE Sayyid Badr bin Hamad al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, received in Muscat on Monday Dr Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of the Parliament of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Dr Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, who is accompanying the parliamentary delegation on an official visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the longstanding relations of cooperation and good neighbourliness between Oman and Iran and discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral ties in a manner that serves the interests of both countries. They also exchanged views on regional developments and issues of mutual concern.

The discussions highlighted the importance of capitalising on the current diplomatic momentum to advance peace efforts, promote de-escalation and reinforce regional stability. Both sides stressed the need to uphold the principles of international law and good-neighbourly relations as key foundations for safeguarding regional security.

The two delegations also underscored the importance of ensuring the safety and security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and international shipping lanes, given their vital role in supporting global trade and economic stability.

The meeting was attended by Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Abdullah al Hinai, Ambassador-at-Large at the Foreign Ministry, Ali Bagheri, Deputy for International Affairs at Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and a number of officials from both sides.
