Quriyat – Plans for the Al Misfat Walkway project in Quriyat are moving forward following a high-level meeting chaired by Khalid bin Aida Al Junaibi, Deputy Wali of Quriyat, to review progress on the community-led initiative and its role in enhancing public amenities in the wilayat.

The meeting, attended by representatives from various government entities, highlighted the voluntary efforts of residents of Al Misfat village in advancing the project, which aims to create a dedicated public space for recreational, cultural and social activities.

The proposed walkway is designed to serve community members by providing a safe and accessible environment for walking, exercise and public gatherings. The project also seeks to support local economic activity by allocating dedicated spaces for small and medium enterprises as well as family-run businesses to showcase and market their products and services.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the progress achieved over the past months, including obtaining the necessary approvals from relevant government authorities and coordinating with landowners along the proposed route. These efforts have helped meet key implementation requirements and ensure that the project proceeds in accordance with approved planning and regulatory frameworks.

Participants were also presented with four proposed design concepts for the walkway. The plans include a range of service facilities, parking areas and designated spaces for kiosks and family businesses, aimed at creating an attractive and functional destination for residents and visitors alike.

Following the meeting, Al Junaibi and participating officials conducted a field visit to inspect the proposed route of the walkway and review the technical and implementation aspects of the project on site.

The Al Misfat Walkway Project reflects the growing role of community participation in local development and is expected to contribute to improving quality of life, encouraging healthy lifestyles and supporting economic opportunities in Quriyat.
