Muscat – Yousuf Al Housni has become one of the first Omani actors to feature in an Egyptian feature film, marking a notable step for Omani talent in one of the Arab world’s most influential film industries.

Al Housni appears in the action-comedy film Saqr Wa Kanarya (Falcon and Canary Bird), starring Egyptian actor Mohammed Emam, son of legendary screen icon Adil Emam.

Produced by Oscar Production Company and directed by Husain El Minbawi, the film is scheduled for release in Egypt on June 24 and across Oman and the wider region on June 25.

In the film, Al Housni performs as a stunt actor in an action sequence lasting more than a minute. His scenes were filmed in the UAE over three days, with production schedules extending up to 12 hours daily across multiple locations.

Speaking about the experience, Al Housni said, “I am extremely happy and proud to be part of this project. This is a personal achievement, but more importantly, it is a step forward for Omani actors seeking opportunities beyond the country’s borders. Egypt has one of the biggest and most prestigious film industries in the Arab world and making my debut there is truly special.”

He added that he hopes this opens more doors for Omani talent and highlights Omani artists’ contribution to regional and international productions.

The actor has steadily built an impressive portfolio through his involvement in major international productions. He previously worked as an extra in several high-profile films, including F1, starring Brad Pitt and Dune, featuring Javier Bardem, among other global productions filmed in the region.
