Muscat – Thousands of students across Oman will begin their final semester examinations on Monday, marking the culmination of months of study and preparation.
The examinations, which will run for more than two weeks, cover students from Grades 5 to 11 and represent the final assessment before the summer break. Schools and educational authorities have completed extensive preparations to ensure a smooth and supportive environment for candidates across the sultanate.
As students prepare to enter examination halls, educators and specialists have encouraged them to approach the tests with confidence, emphasising the importance of preparation, emotional well-being and maintaining a balanced routine.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, educator Dr Ali Al Sheyadi described the examination period as an opportunity for students to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have gained throughout the year.
“Examinations are an important stage in a student’s educational journey, but they should not be viewed as a source of fear or excessive pressure,” he said. “Success is the result of continuous effort and perseverance, and students should approach their exams with confidence and a positive mindset.”
Al Sheyadi advised students to follow organised revision schedules, get adequate sleep and maintain healthy eating habits, noting that these factors play a key role in improving concentration and academic performance. He also urged parents to create a calm and supportive atmosphere at home and avoid placing unnecessary pressure on their children.
Psychologists, Shemsa Al Nabhani highlighted the importance of psychological support during the examination period, saying encouragement from parents and teachers can have a positive impact on students’ confidence and performance.
“Words of reassurance and support can make a significant difference,” she said. “Parents should acknowledge their children’s efforts and not focus solely on examination results.”
Shemsa also advised students to avoid staying up late and to ignore rumours or negative discussions on social media about examination difficulty. Instead, she encouraged them to trust their preparation and maintain a healthy balance between study and rest.
The examinations bring together the efforts of teachers, school administrators, parents and students as the academic year draws to a close. For many candidates, Monday will mark the start of an important step towards their educational goals, supported by their families, schools and the wider community.
