Jaalan Bani Bu Ali – South Sharqiyah has announced a tender for the organisation, management and execution of Ajwaa Al Ashkharah Festival 2026, inviting specialised companies and institutions to submit bids for the prominent tourism and cultural event.
The festival will take place from July 22 to August 15 in Jaalan Bani Bu Ali and is part of ongoing efforts to stimulate tourism and boost the local economy during Al Ashkharah’s annual tourist season, when khareef winds turn the weather misty.
The deadline for submitting bids is May 7.
The festival aims to enhance tourism in Al Ashkharah while showcasing the region’s rich heritage, cultural identity and economic potential. The event aligns with South Sharqiyah’s broader vision to promote community-based tourism and highlight its unique cultural and maritime heritage, while supporting local economic activity and attracting visitors during the tourist season.

The festival is expected to feature a wide range of cultural and entertainment programmes catering to various segments of society. Activities will include children’s shows in a dedicated play area, maritime competitions held within the Heritage Corner, and cultural and recreational contests designed to encourage family participation.
The programme will also include poetry evenings, shows by popular cartoon characters, and various entertainment shows for children and families. In addition, visitors will be able to experience heritage-themed activities reflecting Al Ashkharah’s rich cultural traditions and its long-standing maritime legacy.
The festival is considered one of the most prominent seasonal events in South Sharqiyah, drawing growing numbers of visitors each year from across the sultanate. The region’s pleasant weather during monsoons, combined with a diverse range of activities and events, continues to enhance its appeal as a seasonal tourism destination while supporting the local economy.
