Muscat – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik issued Royal Decree No 35/2025 on Sunday establishing the Investment and Trade Court and promulgating its law. The decree reads as follows:

• Article 1 states that a court to be named the ‘Investment and Trade Court’ will be established and affiliated to the Supreme Judiciary Council. It stipulates that the new court’s headquarters will be in the Governorate of Muscat and the provisions of the law attached to this decree will be applied to the same court.
• Article 2 states that courts will continue to adjudicate lawsuits, orders and requests that, pursuant to the attached law, have become subject to the jurisdiction of the Investment and Trade Court, provided that the lawsuits, orders and requests had been filed prior to the date of enforcing provisions of the attached law.
• Article 3 states that the Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judiciary Council will issue a decision regulating the functions of the Investment and Trade Court and its administrative divisions.
• Article 4 annuls all that contradicts the attached law or contravenes its provisions.
• Article 5 states that this decree will be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from October 1, 2025.
