Muscat, Oman – Indian School Muscat B (ISM B) and Oman Cricket Academy won the Oman Cricket’s U16 School & Academies League titles respectively last week.
ISWK U16 (Indian School Wadi Kabir) bagged Runners-Up position in the Schools league while MCCC Yellow U13 (Muscat Cricket Coaching Centre) bagged the Runners-Up position in the Academies league.
The tournament witnessed 13 teams competing in two groups in the Schools league, with the top two teams from each group playing the semifinals.
Seven teams competed in the academies league in a round-robin format.
OCA U16 remained unbeaten throughout the Academies tournament to claim the title.
Oman Cricket Treasurer Alkesh Joshi, Board Member Kiran Asher, and Chief Development Officer Duleep Mendis handed the accolades in the prize distribution ceremony.
Devin Sethmina was adjudged the Best Batter, Samrudh Shankar was the Best Bowler and Aryan Joshi was adjudged Best All Rounder In the Schools league.
In the Academies league, Shravan Sharat Kurup was adjudged Best Batter, Vihaan Chauhan was adjudged Best Bowler and Ayush Shetty was adjudged Best All Rounder.
Speaking on the tournament’s success, Joshi said: “ Youth cricket is the foundation of our cricketing future in Oman. Their participation in structured leagues not only hones their skills but also instills discipline, teamwork, and a winning mindset for them to transition into representing Oman at U16 and U19 levels. Oman Cricket remains committed to providing these players with the best opportunities, ensuring they have the platform to excel and represent the nation at higher levels. The enthusiasm and growing participation in youth cricket reflect the bright future of the sport in Oman.”
