Oman’s ACC Women’s Premier Cup campaign ends in quarterfinals

10 Jun 2026

Muscat – Oman women’s remarkable run in the 2026 ACC Women’s Premier Cup came to an end on Wednesday after they suffered a crushing 113-run defeat against Indonesia in the quarter-finals at the YSD-UKM Cricket Oval in Bangi, Malaysia.

Despite the disappointing finish, the tournament will be remembered as a landmark campaign for Oman, who reached the knockout stage for the first time after qualifying as one of the best second-placed teams behind group winners UAE.

Oman had impressed throughout the group stage, registering memorable victories over China, Saudi Arabia and the Philippines to secure their historic passage into the quarter-finals.

In the quarter-final, however, Indonesia proved too strong. After winning the toss and electing to bat, Indonesia recovered from an early wobble to post a competitive 137 for 7 from their 20 overs.

Oman made the ideal start when Priyanka Mendonca removed both Rahmawati Pangestuti and Desi Wulandari inside the opening two overs, reducing Indonesia to 4 for 2. But a brisk 20 from Ni Luh Dewi steadied the innings before captain Ni Putu Ayu Nanda Sakarini anchored the recovery with a composed 51 off 49 balls, striking five boundaries.

Kisi Kasse contributed 14, while Ni Kadek Fitria Rada Rani added 18 as Indonesia built momentum through the middle overs. An unbeaten 23 from just 13 deliveries by Ni Made Putri Suwandewi provided a late flourish that lifted the total to 137.

For Oman, Mendonca was the pick of the bowlers with 2 for 38, while Amanda Dcosta and Fiza Javed claimed a wicket apiece.

Chasing 138, Oman endured a disastrous start and never recovered. Suwandewi ripped through the top order, dismissing Jayadhanyha Gunasekar, Nitya Joshi and Fiza Javed in the opening over to leave Oman tottering at 4 for 3 before trapping Amanda Dcosta leg-before to leave Oman reeling at 5 for 11.

The batting collapse continued as wickets fell at regular intervals. Only Javed Hina managed more than two runs among the top nine batters, scoring 4, the highest, before being run out. Oman were eventually bundled out for just 24 in 11.5 overs, their lowest total of the tournament with extras contributing 14.

Suwandewi starred with the ball, returning exceptional figures of 4 for 11 from four overs to earn the Player of the Match award. Lie Qiao chipped in with 2 for 6, while Sang Maypriani claimed 2 for 1 as Indonesia advanced comfortably to the semi-finals.

Indonesia now face the UAE in the semifinals while Hong Kong take on Thailand in the other semifinal.
