Omani British Society hosts roundtable on Middle East’s evolving geoeconomics

Muscat – The Omani British Society (OBS), in collaboration with Standard Chartered Oman, recently hosted an exclusive closed-door roundtable, bringing together key decision-makers, policymakers, and industry experts to examine the shifting geoeconomic and geopolitical dynamics of the Middle East.

The event opened with a keynote address by Saleh Zakwani, Chairman of the Omani British Society, who underscored the importance of dialogue in fostering regional cooperation and economic resilience. This was followed by an insightful briefing from Khaldoun Hajaj, Executive Director of Government Affairs – Africa and the Middle East at Standard Chartered Bank, who shared the bank’s perspectives on the region’s political landscape and economy, highlighting emerging trends shaping trade, investment, and foreign policy strategies.

The interactive discussion, moderated by Haifa al Khaifi, Secretary General of the Omani British Society, explored critical themes such as shifting alliances, economic diversification, and the role of global superpowers in the region.

Khaldoun’s analysis of the region’s transformation – from confrontation to cooperation – sparked thought-provoking exchanges on how economic and political strategies are evolving to support regional stability and growth.

Standard Chartered Oman reaffirmed its commitment to supporting economic development in the Middle East, facilitating discussions that bridge international partnerships and drive strategic investments.
