CPA launches Ramadan Family Pack of basic food items

16 Feb 2025

Muscat – Consumer Protection Authority (CPA) has introduced a Ramadan Family Pack programme across all governorates to ensure the availability of essential goods at affordable prices during the holy month of Ramadan.

According to CPA, the family pack includes a number of basic food items, priced at RO9.900. The initiative aims to provide a convenient and affordable shopping option for both locals and residents, particularly those with limited income.

The pack, which contains between 17 to 19 food items, has already been made available in shopping malls across the sultanate, well in advance of Ramadan. The items include rice, flour, dates, Arabic coffee, cooking oil, sugar, milk powder, oats, semolina, tomato puree, cheese and pasta, among others. These items are intended to meet the weekly needs of families while reducing their burden during this time of increased demand.

CPA added that this initiative is part of its proactive measures to address the needs of citizens during Ramadan. “By offering the Ramadan Family Pack at a nominal price, we are reinforcing our commitment to supporting individuals with limited income during this special month,” a CPA spokesperson said.

In addition to offering the family pack, the authority is working closely with suppliers and merchants to ensure the availability, safety and reasonable pricing of essential food items. CPA is also monitoring promotional offers to prevent any fraudulent practices or price manipulation, ensuring fairness in pricing of both essential and non-essential goods, including electronics and vehicles.

The Ramadan Family Pack was popular in previous Ramadans due to cost-effectiveness, helping families save money and avoid overspending on unnecessary items. Through this initiative, CPA continues to support Omani families, especially those with tight budgets, during Ramadan.
