Muscat – Jabal Akhdar Summer Activities will be held from July 18 to September 14, according to a statement issued by Dakhliyah governorate on Tuesday. 

This year’s activities will be held at various locations, encompassing cultural, entertainment and sports events aimed at serving all segments of society. The event will see participation of numerous public and private sector entities.Jabal Akhdar Summer Activities from July 18

Scheduled events include equestrian competitions, archery, a mountain running race, motorcycle rides, and an artificial intelligence competition. Additionally, there will be training workshops for entrepreneurs, a symposium focusing on water resources, a poetry forum, and traditional games.

In 2023, Jabal Akhdar saw a marginal drop of 1.1% in tourist arrivals to 205,992 from 208,423 in 2022. Released by National Centre for Statistics and Information, the data reflects a diverse visitor demographic. 

The breakdown of tourist numbers shows that 102,241 were Omanis, highlighting Jabal Akhdar’s popularity among locals. 

Of the GCC visitors, Saudi tourists numbered 13,430, followed by Kuwaitis (1,218), Emiratis (951), Qataris (729) and Bahrainis (554).

Additionally, the wilayat received 6,784 visitors from other Arab and 80,085 from non-Arab countries, indicating its appeal to a broad spectrum of tourists.

Famous for its unique climate throughout the year, Jabal Akhdar continues to be a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists. It offers a blend of entertainment and adventure, besides heritage lodges, mountain camping facilities and farm trail walks, appealing to those seeking novel tourist experiences.

Jabal Akhdar has 20 licensed hotels ranging from 3- to 5-star properties, offering a total of 726 rooms of various sizes.
