25 May 2024 Integrated public bus, taxi station for Nizwa in pipeline

Muscat – In an endeavour to streamline the public transport system in the Governorate of Dakhiliyah, the authorities have invited bids for the development of an integrated public bus and taxi station in Nizwa.

The tender has been issued by the Oman National Transport Company – Mwasalat in collaboration with the Tatweer platform.

Proposed to come on an 11,412sqm of land in the wilayat of Nizwa, the integrated station aims to bolster the diversification of financing sources while creating an appealing and distinctive investment space.

An official from Dakhiliyah said that a prime location has been identified in Nizwa for private companies and investors to participate in the development of the Integrated Nizwa Bus Station and Taxi Station on a design, build, finance, operate, and transfer basis.

The scope of development extends beyond the construction of the taxi and bus station. Investors will have the opportunity to engage in commercial and related activities, including the construction of up to six floors of commercial buildings within the designated area.

This presents an opportunity for private sector collaboration with the Dakhiliyah governorate, aligning with the development objectives, expansion requirements, and a vision to significantly improve the quality of life for local community, besides bolstering the economy of Oman.

The official explained that the project will be subsequently transferred back to the Dakhiliyah governorate after a 50-year term, which includes a three-year grace period.

To optimise revenue generation, the developer may incorporate mixed-use elements such as commercial and office buildings, public facilities, retail shops, cargo facilities, parking, and food and beverage outlets without compromising the scale and quality of mandatory facilities.
