ISM win inter-school U16 title, OCA emerge as inter-academy champions

Muscat – Indian School Muscat defeated Indian School Wadi Kabir by five wickets in the final of the Oman Cricket Inter-School U16 Junior Domestic League 2023-24 supported by Mazoon Dairy SAOC at Municipality Grounds recently.

ISWK posted 185 in 30 overs courtesy of Saumya Sampat’s 36 and a collective contribution from the other batters. Vihaan Chauhan picked up two wickets for ISM. In response, ISM chased down the target with one over remaining courtesy Giriharan KK’s 69 along with 36 from Siddheswaran and 31 from Jeet Shah. Arav Pillai picked three wickets.

Oman Cricket Academy defeated Muscat Cricket Coaching Centre Yellow by seven wickets in the final of the Oman Cricket Inter-Academy U16 Junior Domestic League.

MCCC Yellow made 187 with Hafiz Mohammed and Jeet Shah scoring 50 each. Vignesh Karthikeyan took three wickets for OCA while Muhammed Abrar and Mohammed Aseel took two each.

In response, OCA U16 easily chased down the target courtesy of a fine 66 from Kavish Shah, 46 from Christo Tredoux and 45 from Saumya Sampat.

In the Prize Distribution ceremony, Alkesh Joshi, Treasurer – Oman Cricket, Kiran Asher – Board Member, Oman Cricket, Paul Martin, Mazoon Dairy and Duleep Mendis – Chief Development Officer – Oman Cricket graced the stage.

Saumya Sampat of ISWK bagged the Best Batsman award while Jeyapranesh Ayyapan of ISAS was the Best Bowler and Rishab Gupta of ISWK Cambridge was adjudged the Best All-Rounder.

In the inter-academy tournament, Jeet Shah of MCCC Yellow was the Best Batsman while Vignesh Karthikeyan of OCA was adjudged the Best Bowler and Saumya Sampat of OCA was the Best All-Rounder.

Brief scores : ISWK U16 185/10 in 30 overs (Saumya Sampat 36(31), Vihaan Chauhan 2/28) lost to ISM U16 A 186/5 in 29 overs (Giriharan KK 69(55); Arav Pillai 3/25) by 5 wickets.

MCCC Yellow U16 187/10 in 29.1 overs (Hafiz Mohammed 50(38); Vignesh Karthikeyan 3/26) lost to OCA U16 188/3 in 28.2 overs (Kavish Shah 66(55), Jeet Shah 1/24) by 7 wickets.
