Muscat – Six new educational institutions in North Batinah governorate, at a total cost of over RO11.3mn, are almost complete, the Ministry of Education said on Wednesday.

With the progress exceeding 90%, these establishments promise a transformative educational landscape for the governorate.

Dr Waleed bin Talib al Hashemi, Director-General of Education in North Batinah, detailed the distribution of these schools across various wilayats.

Each school has been designed to cater to specific educational levels, featuring a gamut of facilities from classrooms to laboratories; and administrative offices – all tailored to foster an optimal learning environment.

In Sohar, a primary school for grades 1 to 4 is near completion. The facility is getting 40 classrooms and complementary service facilities at over RO1.5mn in total expenditure. It reports a 92% completion status.

Saham is witnessing the coming up of two schools; one for grades 1 to 4 at RO1.53mn, with the same number of classrooms and nearing completion, and the other for grades 9 to 12 – at RO2.3mn – with 40 classrooms, currently being 68% complete.

Suwaiq will be getting three such projects. The first one is 72% complete with 36 classrooms for grades 11-12 at a cost of RO1.98mn. A second school – at a project cost of RO1.66mn for grades 11-12 – is getting ready with 30 classrooms.

The third school, 40 classrooms for grades 8-9 at a cost of RO2.27mn, has reported 60% completion.

Hashemi emphasised that these infrastructural developments align with the ministry’s strategic aim to accommodate the annually increasing number of students, decrease reliance on evening schools, and create inviting educational settings equipped with the latest pedagogical tools and standards.
