MHUP unveils projects worth RO496mn

Muscat – The Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning (MHUP) unveiled housing and infrastructure projects worth RO496mn on Sunday at the opening of Oman Real Estate, Design and Construction Exhibition and Conference 2026.

Held in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion and Oman Real Estate Association, the four-day event was inaugurated by H E Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance.

A key agreement signed during the ceremony was a partnership with Saudi-based Retal Urban Development Company to develop residential neighbourhoods 3, 15 and 17 in Sultan Haitham City. The project spans more than 640,000sqm and exceeds RO320mn in investment.

Several infrastructure contracts linked to Sultan Haitham City were also awarded. Al Tasnim Group secured Package 1 (A) for site preparation and levelling works valued at RO6.8mn. Strabag Oman won Package 12, covering external roads, bridges, underpasses and utility links to Muscat Expressway, worth over RO40mn. Landscaping works under Package 9 (A) were awarded for more than RO3mn.

A consultancy contract exceeding RO3mn was signed for A’Thuraya City to oversee developers’ construction works.

MHUP also signed a memorandum of understanding with Türkiye’s Artas Holding to develop Al Khuwair Downtown as a commercial and urban hub in Muscat.

Under the Sorouh initiative, five agreements were signed to develop integrated residential neighbourhoods in Muscat, Dakhliyah, South Batinah, North Sharqiyah and South Sharqiyah. Valued at more than RO123mn, the projects will deliver 2,167 housing units.

In Al Hamra, a project covering 454,000sqm will include 322 units at RO16mn. In Amerat, 1,006 units will be developed across 300,000sqm at RO62mn. Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan will see 312 units spread over 320,000sqm at RO15mn. Wadi Bani Khalid will have 118 units across 80,000sqm at RO6mn, while Musannah will add 409 units over 432,000sqm at RO24mn.

The event also introduced six new investment opportunities for integrated neighbourhoods in North Batinah, Buraimi, Dakhliyah and South Batinah, covering more than 1.4mn sqm.

As part of social responsibility efforts, MHUP signed an agreement with Dar Al Atta’a Association to build 20 homes in Amerat under Al Atta’a 2 and Al Atta’a 3. Another initiative will support construction of 25 houses across several governorates.

The exhibition brings together developers, investors and construction firms to present projects and explore partnerships in Oman’s real estate sector.
