11 May 2026 MoCIIP outlines guidelines for engineering consultancy licences By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Muscat – Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has officially outlined the digital procedure for obtaining a licence for an engineering consultancy office through the Oman Business Platform. This initiative aims to simplify professional registration by integrating various administrative requirements into a cohesive five-step online journey.

The process begins with the applicant logging into the Oman Business Platform to open a commercial registration. Following this initial step, the specific engineering consultancy office activity must be added. During this phase, applicants are required to attach several mandatory documents to verify their professional standing. These include a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or an equivalent academic qualification, alongside evidence of at least five years of practical experience gained after obtaining said qualification. Furthermore, applicants must provide proof of full-time dedication and a classification certificate issued by the Oman Society of Engineers.

Once these documents are submitted, the application undergoes a formal review and approval process by the relevant authorities. Upon successful validation of the credentials, the applicant is required to sign and pay the necessary fees electronically through the secure portal. The final stage of the procedure involves the electronic receipt of the official licence, allowing the consultancy to commence its professional operations within the Sultanate.
