Muscat – All together 57,034 students are sitting for the second semester of the general education diploma (GED) examinations beginning on Sunday.
An official at the Ministry of Education said that the students will commence their exams with the maths subject on the first day.
To ensure a smooth and conducive environment for examination, officials from the directorates general of education in the governorates will meticulously inspect all examination centres.
Their aim is to guarantee a seamless execution of the examination, besides ensuring that the students have an appropriate setting for their assessments, the official added.
This year, the GED second semester exams will be conducted across 361 centres throughout the sultanate.
Four centres have been designated for the evaluation process.
“Additionally, the ministry has appointed 6,000 teachers to supervise the exam, while 800 teachers have been selected for the task of checking the answer sheets. The evaluation process will commence on June 5 and conclude on July 3.”
The ministry urged all students to arrive early at their respective examination centres and strictly adhere to the examination rules, which include refraining from bringing mobile phones, and strictly following the instructions provided by the exam committee chairpersons.
Students must carry their personal identity cards, and necessary study tools, the ministry added.
The Higher Education Admission Centre at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research, and Innovation reported that a significant number of GED students, totalling 47,717, registered through the electronic admission system for the academic year 2023-24.
