21-year-old Indian cyclist on a mission to spread message of peace

Muscat – An Indian cyclist on a mission to cover 15,000km through several Arab countries over two continents stopped by to explore the sultanate’s breathtaking scenery and spread the message of peace.

Hazif Ahmad Sabith (21) plans to cycle to the sacred Saudi cities of Mecca and Medina and visit the tomb of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), after which he will go to Egypt’s Al Azhar University, renowned for Islamic learning, for higher studies.

Sabith was in Oman for a couple of days following which he left for the UAE. He started the journey mid-January from Kanyakumari in the Southern tip of India setting out for Mumbai from where he flew to Oman.

Sabith aims to end his 15,000km ride in 200 days.

During his visit to Oman, he visited several landmarks of Muscat and also travelled to Nizwa and Sur.
Speaking to Muscat Daily, he said, “People are very hospitable in Oman. They don’t know me, yet they were kind and ready to help with anything.”

The cycle adventure will take Sabith through UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Israel, besides Oman, before reaching Egypt.

“It has been a long-time dream to go to Cairo’s Al Azhar University for higher education and cycle all the way to Medina to visit the holy tomb of the Prophet.”

Throughout the journey, Sabith aims to convey the word of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), and study and record the local traditions of every country. “I have always been excited and thrilled about learning the culture of different countries. I am amazed to see the diversity of India and I am sure I am going to witness more diversity on this trip,” he said.

Sabith, who has earned respect for his speeches on Islam and life in general, will document his trip in his YouTube channel called ‘sabi inspires’. It currently has 140,000 subscribers. His feats are also recorded in India Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and Kalams World Records.
