Young innovator Razan Hamed al Kalbani has done Oman proud by being one of 15 participants chosen to take part in the Innovation Week in Germany.
She is taking part in the event virtually with her project ‘Breaking the Wall of Paint Absorbs X-rays’, for which she won first place in the Falling Walls Lab Competition 2020, organised by the Research and Innovation Department of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.
The Innovation Week is being held from November 2 to 6 with the participation of some of the leading German universities, including the University of Stuttgart, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and the RWTH Aachen University. During the five-day period, participants take part in various scientific activities and develop their innovative projects in collaboration with groups of scientists specialised in their fields from the participating universities.
The event also includes training workshops on how to obtain research support, how to convert research ideas into new products and how to develop ideas and deal with challenges.
Moreover, there are lectures on creating and establishing startups in the right way, individual mentoring and networking opportunities to enrich the innovative capabilities of the participants as well as hosting the participants separately in one of the specialised technological institutes.
At the end of the week, the participants will give a presentation on their experience and how they developed their innovations.
Razan will also represent the sultanate in the Falling Walls Lab Competition in Berlin, Germany on November 8 and attend the Falling Walls Conference on November 9.
