Sur – Royal Oman Police (ROP) has announced a significant disruption to their digital services within the South Sharqiyah Governorate following an accidental severance of fibre optic cables. The technical failure occurred in the Wilayat of Sur, where ongoing construction activities inadvertently damaged the infrastructure belonging to a local telecommunications provider. This incident has led to a widespread collapse of internet connectivity, necessitating a temporary suspension of all police services conducted at the South Sharqiyah Governorate Police Command.

Specialised technical teams were immediately dispatched to the site of the damage to initiate urgent repair works on the affected links. Authorities have indicated that while restoration efforts are currently in progress, the complexity of the damage suggests that the recovery process will likely require several hours to complete. Members of the public are advised that digital and administrative services at the regional headquarters will remain unavailable until the telecommunications network is fully restored and secured.
