Muscat – Musandam welcomed 120 classic cars last week as part of the Musandam Winter events, drawing the attention of residents and visitors along the governorate’s coastal roads. The convoy entered through the Dibba-Al Darah border checkpoint before travelling along the Khasab-Bukha coastal route, which was added this year to the global 1000 Miglia map for its striking mountain and sea landscapes.

A senior official of Musandam Winter’s events and programmes committee said inclusion of the Bukha-Khasab route in the 1000 Miglia itinerary represents an important international endorsement of the governorate’s tourism appeal. “This reflects Musandam’s advanced infrastructure and extraordinary natural beauty, which make it an ideal host for major international tourism and sports events,” he said.

“We are proud to see Musandam featured in global events that spotlight the uniqueness of its mountain–sea environment. This aligns with the objectives of Musandam Winter to enrich visitor experiences and stimulate economic and tourism activity,” he added.

The official noted that Musandam’s inclusion in world-renowned rallies such as 1000 Miglia boosts its position as a leading winter destination and helps attract investment by drawing global media attention and promoting Oman’s tourism offerings.

As part of the programme, participants visited Khasab Fort and experienced traditional Omani hospitality provided by local community members. The group also toured Khasab’s key landmarks, adding to Musandam’s growing reputation in sports tourism.

The Musandam leg formed part of the four-day 1000 Miglia Experience UAE 2025, which covered 1,000 miles across all seven emirates. The route spanned urban Dubai, the sand dunes of Abu Dhabi, the mountain terrain of Ras al Khaimah and the coastal scenery of Musandam. Drivers took on special stages and timed challenges at several notable locations, testing their skills and endurance in an event that blends racing heritage with Middle Eastern hospitality.

The rally is open to owners of notable vehicles, from historic classics to modern supercars, sourced from across the world.
