Twenty-one researchers from the University of Nizwa have been named among the world’s top two percent of scientists for 2025, according to a global list released by Stanford University.
The annual ranking identifies the most influential researchers across scientific disciplines, based on indicators such as research citations and the quality of scientific publications.
Prof Ahmed bin Sulaiman al Harrasi, Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate Studies, Scientific Research and External Relations at the University of Nizwa, said the recognition highlights the university’s progress in scientific research and innovation.
“This prestigious list is one of the most prominent international rankings, based on precise criteria including the number of publications and the impact of citations received by scientists from their research communities,” Prof Harrasi said.
He added that the inclusion of 21 scientists from the university reflects the institution’s continued efforts to strengthen its research system and support scholars in various fields, helping to reinforce its standing in the global scientific community.
Prof Harrasi said the university will continue to enhance scientific research and innovation, contributing to Oman’s position in regional and international indices. He noted that these efforts align with Oman Vision 2040, which seeks to position Omani universities among leading global institutions and advance knowledge-based and sustainable national development.
