Jabal Akhdar – The third edition of Rummana, an agritourism event held at Janaen Farm in the Saih Qatnah area of Jabal Akhdar, attracted 8,953 visitors between July 4 and 31. Running till September 27, the festival combines agricultural experiences with cultural and family activities in a natural mountain setting.
Organised by Teepee Oman and Janaen Agricultural Tourism Development Company, Rummana is supported by Ministry of Heritage and Tourism in partnership with the Governorate if Dakhliyah. The event is part of a broader initiative to transform Jabal Akhdar’s agricultural and cultural heritage into sustainable tourism experiences that benefit rural communities and reinforce Oman’s position as a leading destination in the region.
A key attraction is fig picking, one of the most popular experiences in Jabal Akhdar. Visitors are taken on a guided farm tour before harvesting figs themselves, offering a hands-on connection with local agriculture. The experience includes opportunities for souvenir photos during the harvest.

Coinciding with the Jabal Akhdar Festival, Rummana celebrates the region’s farming traditions and a seasonal calendar aligned with the harvest of pomegranates, figs and pears. Weekly workshops and family-oriented entertainment are held throughout the season, attracting visitors of all ages.
The event’s open-air theatre features interactive shows and family competitions, while children can enjoy games and a miniature car track in a dedicated entertainment zone. ‘Farmers’ Market’ offers locally grown produce in a traditional setting, while a range of cafés and restaurants serve cuisine typical of the wilayat of Jabal Akhdar.
