North Batinah Municipality clarifies street vendor regulations in Shinas

21 May 2026 North Batinah Municipality clarifies regulations for street vendors By OUR CORRESPONDENT

Shinas – North Batinah Municipality has issued an official statement following a widely circulated video on social media concerning a street vendor in the Wilayat of Shinas. The municipality clarified that the immediate violation notice placed on the vendor’s kiosk was due to the structure being established outside designated land boundaries without the required legal ownership documents or municipal permits. The authority emphasised that this administrative action does not prohibit the citizen from conducting his business activities, as the primary objective is to regulate the use of public spaces in accordance with established laws and safety requirements.

The municipality noted that while the initial notice granted a five-day grace period for the citizen to visit the Shinas municipal office to complete the necessary procedures, the individual did not comply within the specified timeframe. Subsequently, municipal representatives met with the vendor to explain the regulatory framework, resulting in an agreement to remove the violation. The municipality is currently undertaking site preparation works, following impact from previous adverse weather conditions. Reaffirming its commitment to supporting local entrepreneurs, the Al Batinah North Municipality continues to facilitate commercial activities while ensuring a necessary balance between public interest and compliance with official regulations.
