South Sharqiyah – Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, in collaboration with the Royal Oman Police, officially opened a new 7 km section of the Sultan Turki bin Said Road project on Thursday. This second phase of the development serves as a crucial link between the Wilayats of Al Kamil Wal Wafi and Sur in the South Sharqiyah Governorate. The newly inaugurated segment commences at the Maslaq area and extends to the Saih Al Matar area near the Sultan’s Armed Forces camp, passing through the Sur gateway for motorists arriving from Al Kamil Wal Wafi.

This project is part of a series of strategic infrastructure initiatives designed to modernise the road network in the South Sharqiyah Governorate. By improving the connectivity between these Wilayats, the ministry aims to facilitate smoother traffic flow and provide robust support for the region’s growing economic, tourism, and developmental sectors. The completed section has been fully equipped with comprehensive safety measures, including iron and concrete barriers, warning signs, and road markings, all intended to provide a secure environment for road users.

The broader project features modern technical specifications, including a dual carriageway that incorporates three lanes in each direction in certain areas. Furthermore, the construction includes several flyovers, bridges, and drainage systems designed to accommodate increasing traffic volumes and enhance the long-term efficiency of the land transport sector. Through such infrastructure investments, the government continues to reinforce the foundation of the nation’s transport network to meet the requirements of sustainable development.
