Muscat – The Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, in cooperation with the Directorate General of Customs, has successfully foiled an international drug smuggling attempt involving over 15 kilograms of opium.
Authorities apprehended two expats who were allegedly attempting to process and ship the narcotics to a European country through a shipping company operating in Oman. The operation followed a meticulous investigation and tracking of a suspicious shipment of water pumps originating from an Asian country.
According to officials, the drugs were professionally concealed within the shipment, indicating the involvement of a well-organized international trafficking network. The case is currently under further legal procedures as investigations continue.
The Royal Oman Police reiterated its commitment to combating drug trafficking and working closely with international partners to dismantle such networks.
