Salalah – Environment Authority (EA) recently conducted an intensive inspection campaign in the Ain Arzat area of Salalah in collaboration with Royal Oman Police targeting illegal logging and firewood sales.
During the campaign, officials seized approximately three tonnes of unlicensed firewood from 17 sites where illegal activities were being carried out. The campaign is part of a broader effort to safeguard Oman’s plant wealth and curb destructive logging practices.
EA informed that several violations were uncovered, including use of mechanical saws, injection of chemicals and illegal uprooting of trees. In a statement, the authority emphasised the importance of preserving natural resources and ensuring environmental sustainability. ‘Protecting the environment is a shared responsibility between individuals and institutions,’ EA stated.
