Muscat – East Coast for Organising Exhibitions is set to host an event called Coffee and Sweets Expo at Mall of Muscat starting Tuesday.
The four-day event aims to bolster Omani small and medium enterprises by promoting their products on the occasion of International Coffee Day, celebrated worldwide on October 1.
Areej bint Mohsen Haider Darwish, member of Board of Directors of Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, will inaugurate the exhibition. She is also the chairperson of the chamber’s Businesswomen’s Committee.
Khadijah Mubark al Batashi, Managing Director of East Coast for Organising Exhibitions, underscored the event’s significance in enhancing visibility of SME products.
According to Khadijah, the expo will feature approximately 20 SMEs, providing a platform to sell a diverse range of items, including coffee products, dates, Omani sweets and gift items. “This event is an opportunity to encourage entrepreneurship, foster trade relations and exchange of experience and knowledge among the participants.”
Khadijah informed about a gradual recovery of the exhibitions and conferences sector from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the crucial need for sustained support. “This event aims to rejuvenate the SME sector and help the national economy. East Coast for Organising Exhibitions reaffirms its commitment to consistently promote Omani products and invigorate the economy.”
Khadijah committed her company’s continued engagement in regional and international exhibitions to enhance the visibility of Omani products.
As a testament to the burgeoning coffee market in Oman, the National Centre for Statistics and Information reported a 3% increase in Oman’s coffee imports this year till June. This increase signals a promising outlook for Oman’s coffee industry, reinforcing the importance of events like the Coffee and Sweets Expo in nurturing and supporting local enterprises.
