Muscat – Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) announced its new season for 2023 to 2024 – September to May – on Monday promising a wide variety of shows from all over the world.

The new season will feature a rich blend of culture, music and entertainment. Umberto Fanni, Director General of ROHM, announced a significant reduction in ticket prices to enable more people to enjoy world-class performances.

Fanni articulated ROHM’s belief in the performing arts as a universal language, uniting diverse people and expressed the institution’s commitment to showcasing human creativity and making music and culture accessible to everyone. 

“Our 2023-2024 season is a testament to this commitment. We have been presenting opera for a decade and now have 14 ROHM productions alongside international operas and shows,” Fanni informed. 

He emphasised the revised pricing policy’s aim is to ensure affordability for families, students and art enthusiasts, allowing them to experience the magic of live performances.

The season will begin with the globally popular Italian opera, The Barber of Seville, on Friday and Saturday. This opera by Gioachino Rossini promises a delightful mix of love, comedy and intrigue. The stellar cast includes Antonino Siragusa as Conte d’Almaviva and Maria Kataeva as Rosina, with a special feature of the Oman Opera Choir in the production.

This season promises a diverse variety of shows, from classical music to ballet to jazz. Highlights include performances of Arabic folk music and world music, allowing audiences to explore their roots through captivating performances. 

The season’s educational events designed for children and adults aim to cultivate a love for the arts in the younger generation.

“This season will be a melting pot of cultures and talents,” Fanni added, noting that it will feature artists from countries as diverse as Italy, France and Holland, among others. “With affordable pricing and a line-up that spans the globe, ROHM continues to be a beacon of culture and a testament to the unifying power of the performing arts,” he concluded.
