Muscat – In its efforts to spread awareness on the importance of remote controlled flying robots, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT) will conduct a drone competition on August 23, 4pm, at Sultan Qaboos University’s College of Engineering.
An official at MTCIT said, “The ministry, in partnership with Sultan Qaboos University and support of Ooredoo, will hold ‘Oman Competition for Drones’. The annual event will feature drones equipped with artificial intelligence systems. The programme will include workshops and training courses to develop and refine skills of participants.”
According the official, the programme targets students of colleges and universities who are looking to acquire new technical skills – particularly in the field of drones – that will enable them to actively participate in implementing technical solutions and contribute to building the national economy. It also aims to prepare and support the winning participants to compete in regional and international competitions.
MTCIT has set conditions to accept participants, including nationality (Omani), being a student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or a graduate with Bachelor’s degree and having knowledge of programming languages.
