Suhar – Suhar Industrial City signed 39 investment contracts worth more than RO214mn in the first half of 2026, as cumulative investment in the Madayn-operated industrial hub surpassed RO2.3bn.

The contracts, covering more than 1.1mn sqm, followed 49 investment applications received during the period. These included 22 new projects, 12 expansions, four substitution contracts and one renewal.

Abdullah bin Ahmed Al Mayasi, Director General of Suhar Industrial City, informed that 16.28mn sqm of its 19.86mn sqm developed area is now leased.

“The industrial city has 497 projects employing about 12,671 workers. Its total area, including undeveloped land, stands at 30.49mn sqm,” he added.

Among the largest projects signed during the first half of the year is a RO25mn ceramic manufacturing plant with Fujian Mansheng Industrial Investment Company.

The factory will occupy 241,000sqm and eventually operate three production lines with a combined capacity of 90,000sqm of ceramic products a day. Initial production capacity is expected to be 60,000sqm daily.

Around 75% of production is earmarked for export to GCC and neighbouring markets, with the remainder serving Oman.

The project is expected to create between 500 and 600 jobs, including more than 150 positions for Omanis, while supporting technology and knowledge transfer.

Suhar Industrial City is also developing a 93MW renewable energy project aimed at supplying factories with competitively priced clean electricity.

Al Mayasi said the project would help lower electricity costs during solar generation hours while maintaining uninterrupted supply during night-time and non-solar periods.

Located in Phase 7 of the industrial city, the development will include infrastructure for renewable power generation and distribution. It is expected to cut carbon emissions and natural gas consumption while helping manufacturers meet international environmental and emissions standards, potentially strengthening their export competitiveness.

In the meanwhile, Madayn is continuing infrastructure development across the industrial city, including rehabilitation studies for Phases 1 to 6 and completion of infrastructure works in Phase 7.

Projects planned under the 11th Five-Year Plan (2026–2030) include upgrading infrastructure and services, developing integrated service facilities and advancing consultancy work for an integrated aluminium economic cluster.

Madayn will also continue promoting investment in Ladayn Polymer Park, which has expanded amid rising demand for plastic products in Oman and regional markets.
