Muscat – A total of 725 water licences were issued in July this year, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR).

In a statement, MAFWR said, ‘The licences issued include requests for registering wells, dams and aflaj, for drilling wells, and development projects in various governorates.’

Of the 725 licences, 180  were issued in Dhahirah, followed by 156 in Dakhliyah, 104 in N Sharqiyah, 87 in N Batinah, 67 in S Batinah, 54 in Buraimi, 34 in Muscat, 20 in S Sharqiyah, 12 in Al Wusta, seven in Musandam and four in Dhofar.
