Muscat – The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology floated a tender on Sunday for local companies and investors to submit investment offers for the development and management of parking yards for transport vehicles (trucks) in different governorates.

The step comes as part of the ministry’s efforts to organise land transport facilities, provide safe and well-equipped sites for transport vehicles and to eliminate the phenomenon of truck parking in residential areas.

Once the parking compounds are set up, no land transport vehicles will be allowed to park in residential or commercial areas, and a decision to this effect will be implemented, the ministry affirmed.

The ministry has provided seven plots of land for this project, including a plot of land having an area of 18,380sqm in Al Malada area in the wilayat of Musannah, a 75,000sqm plot in the Khamaila area in the wilayat of Bahla, 9,636sqm plot in the Al Hayma area in the wilayat of Ibra, and a 25,001sqm plot in Mawaleh in the wilayat of Seeb.

In Misfah area in the wilayat of Bausher, the ministry has allotted 4,358sqm of land, 3,334sqm in Al Nawa area in the wilayat of Mahdah and 9,485sqm in Al Khashda area in the wilayat of Saham.
