Oman participates in foundation laying event of Expo 2025 in Japan

Muscat – The sultanate, represented by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, participated in the official foundation stone laying ceremony of Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, on Friday.

Oman was represented at the ceremony by H E Sayyid Said bin Sultan al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Culture in the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth and Commissioner General of Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2025.

The expo will be held from April 13 to October 13, 2025 under the slogan ‘Designing a Future Society for Our Lives’ to improve the lives of communities.

The objective of the expo is to accelerate initiatives aimed at achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030 agenda.

Osaka’s SDGs vision is that as host of the expo, it will lead the world through advancing SDG-driven initiatives with a view to promote safe, secure and sustainable growth, as well as create the foundation for a comfortable and affluent society for its citizens.

The Office of Bilarab bin Haitham Award for Architectural Design conducted a design competition for of Oman’s pavilion at Expo 2025.

The winning team of Ammar bin Abdulhamid al Kiyumi, Bayan bint Musallam al Ramadhaniyah and Nayyara bint Khamis al Hinaiyah were awarded the design project of Oman’s pavilion on February 28 by H H Sayyid Bilarab bin Haitham al Said, along with a reward of RO10,000.

To be build on an area of 1,763sqm, Oman’s pavilion will be a platform to unite people from different cultures in line with the expo’s slogan ‘Designing a Future Society for Our Lives’.
