Muscat – Moderate to heavy rains lashed several governorates in the past four days, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

‘A number of wadis overflowed. There are still low clouds and fog spread over parts of Oman,’ CAA said in a statement.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR), Jalan Bani Bu Ali recorded the highest rainfall of 82mm since Sunday.

Data collected from the rain monitoring stations of MAFWR from Sunday till Wednesday morning showed Masirah received a total rainfall of 78mm, followed by Rustaq (62mm) and Barka (56mm).

Data further recorded 45mm of rain in Taqah during the same period, 35mm in Sur, 30mm in Duqm, and 28mm in al Kamil wa al Wafi.

The sultanate’s famous tourist destination Wadi Bani Khalid received 27mm of rain during the past four days, Izki 27mm, Al Hamra 23mm, Nakhl 21mm, Al Qabel 20mm, Jabal Akhdar 18mm, Khaboura 8mm and Muscat 6mm.

Heavy rains resulted in a sudden rise of water in the Sabakh area of Sur in South Sharqiyah governorate. The Civil Defence and Ambulance Authority (CDAA) rescued a family from their residence in Sabakh after they were stranded due to sudden inundation of the area.
