Muscat – The Shinas Heritage Festival kicked off on Wednesday under the patronage of Mohammed Sulaiman al Kindi, Governor of North Batinah.
The festival, organised by the Camel Racing Committee in the wilayat and supervised by the Department of Municipal Affairs in North Batinah Municipality, will run for four days.
Mohammed al Balushi, general supervisor of the festival and a member of the Camel Racing Committee, said, “The event is being held at a camel racing field, and includes a variety of activities, including camel, horse and Saluki dog races.”
He added that the festival is being held for the second time and includes a bedouin heritage village, activities showcasing rural and marine life, a shooting competition, a marathon, performances by traditional Omani groups, and poetry evenings.
“The festival aims to promote Omani tourism and preserve heritage,” Balushi said.
