Oman to host major international health conference in November

Muscat – Oman is set to host a major international health conference – the third Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance – in Muscat from November 24 to 25.

A high-level meeting to oversee preparations was held on Sunday with H E Dr Hilal bin Ali al Sabti, Minister of Health, H E Dr Saud Hamoud al Habsi, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources, and Dr Hanan Balkhy, Assistant Director General for Antimicrobial Resistance in World Health Organization, at the Ministry of Health (MoH) headquarters.

The meeting discussed Oman’s level of preparedness to host the conference, besides the logistics support requirements.

Dr Jean Jabbour, WHO Representative in Oman, attended the meeting, alongside several senior MoH and WHO officials.

Dr Hanan later joined the meeting of the organising committee of the conference where she was informed about the scientific programme of the conference, as well as logistical and media preparations.

The first and second Ministerial Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance were held in the Netherlands in 2014 and 2019.
