Muscat – A 24-hour wet spell brought about 59mm of rainfall in Jabal Akhdar, while Barka received 53mm of rains. More rains are expected over Wednesday as the low pressure weakens and moves to Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
According to Directorate General of Meteorology, there are chances of rain of varying intensity and occasional thundershowers over governorates of Muscat, North Sharqiyah, Dakhilyiah, South Batinah, North Batinah, Buraimi, Dhahira, and Musandam on Wednesday. ‘The coastal areas of Dhofar governorates and adjoining mountains will experience intermittent drizzle and isolated rains.’
Jason Nicholls, Lead International Forecaster at AccuWeather, said that the weak low pressure that brought flooding rains to Karachi will continue to produce showers and thunderstorms in southeast Iran, Oman and UAE into Wednesday. “Thunderstorms can reach Qatar and adjacent parts of Saudi Arabia on Thursday.”
