Nizwa – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander, presided over a celebration marking Royal Oman Police Day (January 5) and the passing out of new batches of officers. The event took place at the parade grounds of Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences in Nizwa on Wednesday.
Following the arrival of His Majesty the Sultan in Nizwa, he was accompanied by a fleet of police motorcycles to the gate of Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences where a Guard of Honour performed the military salute to His Majesty the Sultan.

The Royal motorcade then headed to the celebration grounds, flanked by a cavalcade of senior horsemen of the Royal Oman Police (ROP). There, His Majesty the Sultan was received by Lt Gen Hassan Mohsin al Shraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs.
His Majesty the Sultan mounted the Royal dais and columns of the graduate officers gave the military salute to His Majesty the Sultan. The Royal Anthem, played by the ROP band, followed.
The commandant of the graduates’ column stepped forward, requesting His Majesty the Sultan to signal the start of the military parade in slow motion. Passing in front of the Royal dais, the column performed the military salute to His Majesty the Sultan. Top graduates came forward to receive the Honorary Sabre from His Majesty the Sultan, the Supreme Commander.
This was followed by the graduating officers of the 44th batch passing over the colours to the 45th batch of cadet officers.

The column of the graduating batch chanted the ROP anthem ‘Humaat al Haqq’ and performed the oath of allegiance, proclaiming faith in the Almighty Allah and allegiance to the nation and the Sultan. They pledged to diligently serve Oman and His Majesty the Sultan and to keep vigilance over the security of the country’s citizens and residents. The graduates then performed the military salute to His Majesty the Sultan, the Supreme Commander.
This was followed by the ROP band playing the Royal Anthem signaling the conclusion of the parade.

After the ceremony, His Majesty the Sultan accepted a commemorative gift from the ROP. Lt Gen Shraiqi had the honour of presenting the memento to His Majesty the Sultan.
This Royal attention demonstrates the advanced role undertaken by the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences in providing training to police corps. The academy takes keen interest in developing mechanisms of work to develop and expand security tasks, in addition to maintaining a high level of readiness to deal with any situation.
