Dhofar – All government schools in Dhofar Governorate now have access to internet services, with 141 of the 149 schools connected to ultra-high-speed broadband networks, according to the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA).

The remaining eight schools rely on alternative connectivity technologies, supporting continued access to digital services across the governorate’s education sector.

The figures were released in the TRA’s comprehensive overview of telecommunications services in Dhofar for 2025, issued under the theme “Wider Coverage, Closer Services”, which highlighted continued expansion of the governorate’s telecommunications infrastructure.

Fibre-optic connections increased by 27%, with 19,703 new connections added during the year, taking the total to 92,398.

Meanwhile, the number of housing units in Dhofar reached 140,648, of which 131,731, or 93.66%, were covered by 5G networks.

The number of 5G stations also increased by 10% to 719, while the total number of telecommunications stations across the governorate reached 1,089.

The expansion in high-speed connectivity is strengthening digital access for households and public institutions across Dhofar, while supporting the wider adoption of digital services.
