Gaborone, Botswana – His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik held a bilateral meeting with President Duma Gideon Boko of the Republic of Botswana, at the Presidential Headquarters in the capital Gaborone on Wednesday evening. The meeting was held within the framework of His Majesty’s visit to Botswana.

During the meeting, emphasis was placed on the cordial relations binding Oman and Botswana, and on the importance of strengthening and developing these in a manner that serves the common interests and secures further mutual benefits for the two countries’ peoples.

Thereafter, an expanded official session of talks was held, chaired by His Majesty the Sultan and President Boko. The session explored the existing fields of cooperation between the two countries and ways of enhancing these, particularly in the sectors of renewable energy, mining, investment, logistics, food security and agriculture.

The session was attended, from the Omani side, by H H Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs; Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court; Gen Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani, Minister of the Royal Office; Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister; Dr Hamad bin Said Al Aufi, Head of the Private Office; Abdulsalam bin Mohammed Al Murshidi, President of Oman Investment Authority; Anwar bin Hilal Al Jabri, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion; and Ali bin Said Al Kathiri, Head of Oman’s mission in South Africa.

His Majesty the Sultan also graciously signed the Book of Distinguished Guests, and commemorative gifts were exchanged between him and President Boko showing  the depth of bonds of friendship between the two countries.
