Muscat – Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) has issued a reminder concerning the use of national symbols and emblems on commercial products. Businesses and individuals are required to obtain official approval to ensure these symbols are used respectfully and correctly.

The symbols requiring prior permission include:

• The image of His Majesty
• The National Emblem (the Khanjar and two crossed swords)
• The Flag of the Sultanate of Oman
• The Map of the Sultanate of Oman

Furthermore, the Ministry has strictly prohibited the use of certain sensitive national and religious sites on commercial items. This includes:

• The Royal Emblem
• Images of Royal Mosques
• Images of Royal Palaces

To obtain approval, applicants must submit their request in person to the Licensing Department. This submission must include clear images of the product that demonstrate exactly how and where the national emblem or symbol will be applied.

The final deadline for submitting these applications is 15 October 2026. The Ministry emphasises that this process is vital to protect national symbols and promote their responsible use within the community and marketplace.
