Egypt camp to prepare Oman swimmers for Tunisia, Bahrain events

Muscat – The national swimming team will begin a training camp in Egypt on Wednesday as preparations intensify for two Arab championships later this year.

The camp will run till the end of August and follows an internal training programme at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.

Oman will compete at the Arab Long Distance Swimming Championship in Tunisia from October 2 to 4, followed by the Arab Short Distance Swimming Championship in Bahrain from November 13 to 17.

Dr Awad bin Salem Al Ajili, President of Oman Aquatics Federation, met the squad ahead of its departure and urged swimmers to make full use of the training programme to improve their technical and physical readiness.

He said the camp is intended to help the team achieve better results and reflect the progress of Omani aquatics at regional competitions.

The delegation is headed by Musa bin Saif Al Hinai and includes general coach Mohamed Bouguerra, assistant coach Ayman bin Hamad Al Kulaibi and physiotherapist Balarif Hussein.

The swimmers are Naif bin Munir Al Qasimi, Nasser bin Saif Al Kindi, Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Wahibi, Shihab bin Ahmed Al Batashi, Mohammed bin Khamis Al Wahibi, Hamad bin Sulaiman Al Hasani, Mahmoud bin Mohammed Awlad Thani, Khalil bin Sulaiman Al Hasani, Ghaith bin Khalil Al Wahibi, Yousef bin Saeed Al Sulti, Elias bin Fathi Al Harthi, Khalid bin Sulaiman Al Hasani, Mohammed bin Talib Al Rahbi and Moamen bin Mazen Al Abdali.
